I'm sure there is a way to link to an article but I'm too lazy to figure it out. So click on the long url below if you want to read the article.
This is an article about something called Flixels. I think it's an Iphone app for taking pictures. And I think it's amazing. So I read the article and I look at some of the pictures and I think "wow, totally cool." Then I read some of the comments and some of them are "wow, totally cool." And some are "ho, hum, boring."
Did you know that the belief is that Thomas Kinkade drank himself to death? He was "the painter of light." He was depressed in part because some people didn't like his work. He is the most renowned painter in the world. He sold millions of paintings. And he was depressed because some people didn't like his work so he killed himself with alcohol. Evidently.
Two points about this. One, stop giving a crap about what other people think about what you are doing if you love it and know it's right. If you have a gift, develop it and share it and don't worry about the haters. Evil people throw rocks at shiny things (paraphrased from a country song I don't know the name of). And there are a lot of evil people out there.
Two, he killed himself (if he did kill himself, it's a rumor) because of a mental illness called depression. Like Jenny Lawson says, depression is a lying bastard, don't believe anything it says.
PS I think instagram is a stupid app and makes pretty pictures ugly. And it sold for a billion dollars. And I am not an evil person throwing rocks. See what I mean? Don't worry about what other people say. Do what you love and what you know is right for you to be doing.
