TV Shows

I watched my Tivo'd episode of Being Erica last night. Excellent show. I can hardly wait until the next episode. This is why I like to wait until a season worth of shows is over and then record the marathon and then watch them one after the other. No waiting. Except for cooking, laundry, kids, cleaning, my  Mike, etc. You know, life. Other than that, marathon tv watching. Oh yeah, and reading.

Gilmore Girls is still at the top of my list for season pass. It's my fall back can't find anything else to watch need a lift kind of show. I love Gilmore Girls and want to live in Star's Hollow with the rest of the crazies. They make me feel almost normal.

I am reading Impossible Odds by Dave Duncan which I mentioned last week. I started it before but never finished it. It's very  good. Long.

Homelessness

I've been watching Oprah's episode about the jobless, homeless people. This is very disturbing. Very scary.

College

I enrolled in college three times. Community colleges, one in San Bernardino, one in Ft Worth, and one in Riverside. I quit all three times.

I was thinking about why this morning. It didn't meet my expectations. I thought, "College. Smarter teachers, harder work, dig deep learning profound truths." Really, it wasn't any different than high school for me except the students were more mature. So the teacher didn't have to spend half the class time getting them to settle down and get to work.

The teachers were ordinary people with their own issues and areas of ignorance. The homework was easy and I didn't feel like I was really learning anything. I had a nutrition class and didn't understand that the teacher's education didn't involve reading her grandmother's prevention magazines and books by Rodale press so what she "knew" about nutrition was different than what I knew. I had an honor's english teacher who developed a brain tumor and then died over christmas break. I know, not his fault, but his replacement sucked.

I want to go back to college. Not necessarily for a degree, but to learn stuff. I love learning new things, more than anything, and I feel stagnant right now. I loved school. I want to go back to it. Different expectations this time. Knowing it won't always be fun and the teachers won't always be right or know everything but understanding that they have something I need. Knowledge. That's what I want.

Uninstalling Programs

If you did a search and ended up here thinking you were going to get help with your computer go back and start over. No help here. It would be the computer illiterate leading the computer illiterate.

I was originally going to clean up my start page. But when I click on an icon and then click delete it says "go here to delete this program" so I go there and there's all kinds of programs, some of which I need and some which are superfluous. So I uninstalled a couple of them and then went back to my start page and started double clicking icons to see what they were. One was called easy internet services or something like that.

I clicked on it and found out it's by HP and it's to get you going on the internet. Fine, but I'm already on the internet. Now I can't minimize or x out of that page. The only choice is to begin or watch their video.

But, Hah!, I think I can get rid of it with task manager. Yes, I did. Not completely illiterate, I guess.

I am the lizard king. I can do anything.

Books

I was at the library, browsing in the books for sale section, when I remembered it was blog day. Friday is my this is what I'm reading/watching/listening day. I'm not actually reading anything significant right now. I bought a bunch of novels at the library, an eclectic selection, and checked out a few more. I'll let you know if any of them are any good.

I did start reading "Impossible Odds" by Dave Duncan, one of the King's Blades novels, on the light rail on the way home. I think I might have read it before. 

Right now I'm watching Life On Mars. I love Tivo. I've been watching The Dead Zone which I didn't watch for the most part when it first played. There was a marathon a couple of days ago starting with the pilot. Really enjoying that.

I saw a bumper sticker that said something like Don't mess with dragons, they think humans are crunchy and good with ketchup. I love it.

Easy life, difficult life

I have the easiest life you could imagine. I created this life on purpose. However, to get here to this very simple way of living it also involved choosing not to work a regular full time job. So here's the difficult part. Just barely enough money to get through month to month.

There are things I want to do that I don't have the funds to do. I am spending a $100 on business cards and flyers. I thought that was going to happen in Jan. Then in Feb. Now it's been moved to March. I am just keeping it in my brain and figuring it will get there.

I sell the best vitamins and minerals in the world. At the least I need business cards and flyers to market it.

I think the biggest roadblock is the not wanting to give up my easy, easy life. It will be a trade. But I'm ready for more income now and what I need to do to get it.

minutia

All weekend I thought about things I could have posted Friday and didn't and why don't I just go online and post them now and okay, I'll post something Monday. So here I am not being able to remember most of what I wanted to post about.

I am turning Friday postings into a current book/movie/music I'm reading/watching/listening to. Last night I finished reading a book called "Live Through This-On Creativity and Self-Destruction" edited by Sabrina Chapadjiev.  It was excellent. I kept thinking of friends who would love it as much as me.

It's a book of essays written by women who have experienced the dichotomy of creativity vs. self-destruction. Very fascinating.

Wednesday's Post

I just spent an hour or so emailing a friend who I love and is having a hard time right now. It's one of those times when you can see the way out but have trouble walking there.

Now I'm going to buy a mouse for my snake. And I am determined to go to the library today. I need to take back all my books and start over. I shop for books the way other women shop for shoes. Fortunately for me and my financial situation I don't have to actually buy the books. Checking them out at the library works almost as well.

Sometimes I can even go to the Barnes and Noble website and shop for a while without buying anything and get my fix that way.

Pizza Hut

I just went online to Pizza Hut's website to complain about my local Pizza Hut. Which got me to thinking about how much easier it is to complain about a company than it used to be. Now the question is whether or not they will read the complaint.

PS The complaint was about the $3 delivery charge and the fact that all their products are $1 more than the advertised price. So if a pizza is advertised as $10.99 it's going to cost me $14.99 before taxes.

PPS I know. I need to get a car. I don't want to.

Easy Blogging, Hard Blogging

I have to say it's a lot easier to keep my commitment to blogging on Mon, Wed and Thurs on this blog than it is on my healthy blog. Probably because on this blog I don't have to think about it, I just write what I feel like writing. And there's no pressure.

My healthy blog relates to my purpose and my life goals. It feels more important. So I have to get it right.

Plus, I think of things I want to write about but don't make a note and then I forget. So even though I have a couple dozen ideas remembering them at the time I sit down at my computer becomes an issue.

However, this is something I feel compelled to do, as if there is no choice and no time to delay. So here I go. Over to my be healthy blog I mean.
