I was in the breakroom at work yesterday talking about the cold I got last week. Tabitha got a sore throat Fri night and I'm thinking "great, now she's going to her dad's for a week, with a cold, and I don't have any oils to send with her". I have some on order that are on the way. And I had a bit in the house but not Defense which is my primary oil for colds and flus.
I was talking about this in the breakroom and someone asked me what oils I use for a headache (peppermint oil, mostly). It struck me as we were talking that I probably use 1/4 to 1/2 as much over-the-counter medicine and prescription drugs when I'm taking my liquid vits and mins and using my oils as opposed to when I'm not.
Also, I'm happier. As I've been researching the oils for my essential oil blog it struck me how there is always an emotional component to the benefits of the oils. Some of the oils are more for the emotions than others, like frankincense and geranium to mention just two, but all of them help me stay emotionally healthy. And the vits and mins, too.
I was telling someone the other day at work how I feel like two different people. One person when I'm drinking my vits and mins and any other supplements I have, that person is happier, calmer, has more energy, and is more social. The other person, without my vits and mins, is sad, angry, afraid, isolates herself, takes naps everyday, and wants to stay in bed. The longer I go without my vits and mins the less I feel like me.
That's why I no longer consider my vitamins and minerals, and the oils, a luxury. They are as essential to my life as food and water and the other necessities of life.
Keep it fresh. Keep it fun.
